The Afroterrestrials™

Solo Exhibition, 2018

Grandchamps // Brooklyn, NY

In partnership with local Haitian restaurant, Grandchamps, The Afroterrestrials™ is an exhibition that explores the essence of “Blackness” through a sci-fi lens.

We follow the lives of four vastly different beings known colloquially as, The Afroterrestrials™. The Warlord, The Artist, The Athlete, and The Janitor.

The Warlord - Legends say she used to be an Earthling from a place called “New York”. One who waged war against those who sought to control and change her homeland. An unstoppable force that’s now set her eyes upon the stars. The Warlord is not one to be trifled with, she’s literally punched a hole in a moon.

The Athlete - Kartisha V is the youngest Zuri to make MVP in the Intergalactic Gorfac League. Her speed and agility are unmatched on the field, making her top choice during the drafts. No matter what team she plays for or how she travels, Kartisha always reps her homeworld Planet Zurizan.

The Janitor - Olu Ohla wanted to travel the galaxy but not like this. It’s not the best gig in the universe but someone’s gotta cleap up the viscera when secret scientific experiments are (purposefully) let loose on space stations. Wherever there’s a pair of disembodied legs hanging from the ceiling, Olu is there!

The Artist - Wanted in several star quadrants for arson, theft, and attempted murder; Sibu Litishia Tofuu Korzahn is a renowned muralist who stops at nothing to create her masterful works of art. Deadass, she nearly killed someone….on purpose! Rumor has it that Sibu is planning a collab with The Warlord for her next installation.
