As a former CLINGY person, I can safely say that once you break out of that terrible mindset, things get better. It’s absolutely important to have consistent communication but things happen, we’re all human. No matter if someone is your lover, friend, or family member — things happen and sometimes that consistent communication is dropped. Personally, if possible, I prefer it if people tell me if they got shit going on and then decide to dip. I try to do the same. Regardless, nobody on this planet OWES you their time. Hold people accountable ONLY if you’re being wronged but nobody owes you their limited time on this Earth.
