REMEMBER SEPTEMBER
YURR! What’s good, Habgoblins.
The best month of the year in the best season of the year is upon us. SEPTEMBER, my birth month. For those who are new to the world of Hab Oh, it’s on September 24th to be exact. I usually treat it like a holiday and this year, I’m going to treat it like New Years; a fresh start. Not gonna hold you, I need it. The past couple of months have been a quite the test of my wits and sanity. I’ve been going through some health and financial struggles and it’s been difficult to keep my usual schedule of events. That’s why some outdoor/virtual events, livestreams, and other projects have been either delayed or canceled. When I put pride and the fear of judgement aside, I was able to reach out to my network for help.
I am incredibly grateful to those who weren’t bystanders and stepped up to help, whether it was a straight up donation, ordering a commission, sharing helpful resources, or simply directing me to people who could assist. There were folks who leapt without hesitation and I was shocked by the goodwill. I want to thank Jasmine, Morgan, Matty & Nick from Black Men Build, Becton, Saturoosky, Lilabobina, Jase Animates, Jamal.Creates, Bob-omb Games for their unwavering support.
I am not out of the woods by any means, so any direct support you can provide is greatly appreciated. You can donate to my Ko-Fi Goal, order a Mystery Art Commission, or send funds to my CashApp ($habtoons) or Venmo (@habtoons). I’m also available for character and comic design workshops, got ten (10) years of experience under my belt. Like, I need cash NOW…today. Anything helps.
There are some of you who are reading this, turning up your nose at me. That’s okay. I know some of you don’t even like it when I’m thriving. And, that’s okay too. I do hope that pain leaves your mind and body.
Now, this ain’t all doom and gloom.
Like I said, my birthday is coming up and as tradition would dictate, I’ll be doing a Birthday Eve Livestream on YouTube on the 22nd. We’ll have games, music, special guests, and more. I’ve been doing these since the COVID Lockdown and it always gets me in the right mindset for my weeklong celebration.
My artist collective, AFROVISIONARIES, is also celebrating it’s first year anniversary and we’ve got a very special Museum Field Trip coming up this Saturday. We’re headed to the Chelsea Art Gallery District for our second annual Chelsea Art Crawl. Our first stop will be the Phillipe Labaune Gallery to check out Mike Mignola’s (Hellboy) new exhibition. So, if you’re Black and in the Tri-State area this Saturday, September 19th, come through! All the galleries are FREE to enter. RSVP here.
Speaking of galleries and art…SAVE THE DATE. September 28th. I’ll be exhibiting work at the ROOTED TOGETHER pop-up exhibition here in Bed-Stuy. I’ll share more details and RSVP info closer to the date.
I’m still working on the concept for the “Big AI Video”, it would have been out today but it just wasn’t happening. My goal with the video is to educate and inform on what exactly Artificial Intelligence is in 2026, how it not only affects the world of entertainment and media but also how it has legitimate debilitating affects on our society. You’ll also learn the different between different types of AI/AI Models so the next time you have a conversation with someone, you might be able to correct misinformation that’s going around. This won’t be a video to cape for the technology, so don’t worry. I just need time to write the script and compile all my research. I can’t say when the video is out because I feel like if I put a date, I’ll just miss it. So, just stay tuned.
In regards to my videos, I’m going to focus on promoting what has already been uploaded so far. I think I’ve got some great topics covered, especially on DA ART BLOC (with my new co-host, Jasmine Woods). That being said, I’m looking for a Clipper. Someone who could volunteer time to assist me in making clips to put out across social media. Once I have more funding, I can definitely pay but I can’t do this by myself anymore. To the rest of y’all, I implore you to check out some of my favorite videos: leave a like, COMMENT, and “Hype” the video so YouTube understands my channel is ready to GROW!
I’m trying to bring Black Canvas Chronicles back as that seemed to perform very well on all the platforms I’ve posted to. My apologies to those who have been excited about the series, patiently awaiting the next upload. It’s coming, just be patient. The next highlighted artist will be the recently departed Betye Saar.
If you didn’t know, I’m doing a Let’s Play of one of my ALL TIME favorite games, Mass Effect. You can follow the journey on my Gaming YouTube Channel. I’ve been wanted to do this for a long time, ever since I did a live playthrough back in 2021. It’s been a blast and if you’re into narrative driven games with great characters and sleek sci-fi aesthetics, I’d highly recommend watching.
Art wise, Moniqua-N-Bemi development is coming along slow and steady. Pushing the release to 2027 really gave me some much needed breathing room. The first four pages of the comic were released a while back, if you haven’t seen them already. I’ve been sharing character updates and new illustrations of Patreon and it’s been fun to see the reactions to things that have caught my Patreon Members by surprise.
I also have a handful of (non Mo-N-Bem) illustrations I’ve shared on Patreon that I’ll be putting out to the public within the next month or so. I’m mad hype about this, I honestly think they’re some of my best work yet. Like, for real.
Sweaty Minds is going steady and I’ve hoped you’ve enjoyed the new comics and animations. The comic strip that came out today was a collab with the Patreon Community, our first ever “CAPTION THIS”, where you fill in the blank of the comic’s dialogue. Shoutout to community member, Morgan Bissant, for blessing us with some good artist humor. I plan to do a series of livestreams showing the full process of creating the comic, you’ll get to see that on Patreon starting this Thursday.
Lastly, on the art tip, I ain’t saying too much now but something big is happening for Unit 333 in November. There are a few of you that already know but keep ya lips sealed or Bemi will come get you.
I’ve been tired. I’ve been stressed. I’ve been at my wits in BUT I’m still motivated. A renewed motivation thanks to something I can’t publicly speak on yet. I’m very much looking forward to this last quarter of 2026 and it starts with this newsletter which is now a blog post on my website too.
Can’t wait to see y’all soon across the virtual and analog spaces.
Stay true,
Hab
